What is precision root canal treatment?

Precision root canal treatment (endodontic treatment) is a procedure performed using a microscope for teeth that have decayed nerves due to cavities, or where bacteria have proliferated and caused abscesses due to incomplete or previously sealed nerve treatments.
Under microscopic guidance, this treatment allows for the precise examination of nerve conditions at the micron level, and enables the removal of bacteria that may be intricately curved or branched within the root canals, which cannot be visualized with the naked eye.
Post-treatment, the root canal is filled with medication, and a restoration such as a crown or filling is applied to restore the tooth's function.

Apical periodontitis

Symptoms are often asymptomatic, but there may be dull pain or slight discomfort when chewing.
In acute cases, the surrounding gums swell and severe pain occurs.
In the worst cases, pus may erode surrounding teeth and bone, leading to extraction.

The risks and complications of precision root canal treatment

・There may be pain for 2-3 days after treatment. Particularly, teeth that previously had no symptoms or teeth where root canal treatment was completed in one visit may experience temporary severe pain.

・Precision root canal treatment requires significant time per session (typically 60-90 minutes per tooth), and the number of sessions may vary based on difficulty. Therefore, a cancellation fee of 5,500 yen applies for cancellations made the day before or on the treatment day.

・Even with precision root canal treatment, there is a possibility that symptoms may not improve. In such cases, apicoectomy may be indicated based on the situation.

・Fracture of the root canal that cannot be confirmed with routine visual inspection, preoperative X-rays, or CT scans may occur. If an untreatable root fracture is discovered, root canal treatment will be discontinued.

・There is a possibility of instrument fracture during root canal treatment. However, our clinic uses disposable, sterilized instruments, so there is no concern even if an instrument were to accidentally remain inside the root canal.

・There is no warranty system typically available for elective treatments in the field of endodontics worldwide. Our clinic also does not offer a warranty system for private treatments in endodontics, so please understand this beforehand.
